Vietnam Is Offering a 5-Year Visa, Here’s Who Qualifies

Vietnam has rolled out a new long-term visa that’s drawing attention from around the world. Here’s what it allows, how it works, and who can apply.

Vietnam is shaking up its visa game in a big way — and this isn’t your typical travel-only tourist visa. In mid-2025, the government rolled out a brand-new 5-year talent visa designed to bring high-level professionals, innovators, and creative leaders to the country. It’s a part of Vietnam’s newer “golden visa” strategy to attract global talent.

So, what Is the 5-Year Talent Visa about?

Officially launched on August 15, 2025, the 5-year Talent Visa isn’t your average travel visa. It’s a multiple-entry special visa exemption card (technically called the Special Visa Exemption Card) that lets eligible foreigners enter and exit Vietnam freely for up to five years. Each visit can last up to 90 days.

Professionals invited by major Vietnamese institutions — like universities, research centers, or large enterprises — can also qualify, as long as they’re approved by the relevant ministries or agencies.

Application Method: You can start the application online via Vietnam’s national public portal, though many applicants use legal support to complete forms and coordinate with officials.
