Uber Driver’s Size 16 Feet Spark’s Side Hustle and Riders Tip Big For It!

Los Angeles has seen its share of stars, but none quite like Jason “Chase” Johnson, a full-time Uber driver whose size 16 feet are turning heads and creating an unexpected side hustle.

After being laid off from his tech sales job two years ago, 35 year old Chase decided to drive Uber full-time. Like many drivers, he looked for ways to lighten the mood in his car — and maybe earn a few extra tips. That’s when he had an idea: a handwritten sign taped to the back of his seats.

“Excuse the jerky ride, I’ve got size 16 feet.”

What Chase thought would be a small joke quickly turned into a viral phenomenon.

“I figured it’d just make people laugh,” Chase said. “I never imagined I’d get dozens of comments and offers every single day — all about my feet!”

Passengers have been asking all sorts of questions, including requests to buy his socks and shoes. Chase, who admits he sometimes wears the same pair of socks for three days straight, including during his twice-weekly soccer games, never expected such a simple joke to turn into a micro-business.

“People ask about my shoes, my socks, and just about everything related to my feet,” Mo laughed. “I’m not kidding — some passengers have purchased the socks right off my feet before the ride ends and even want to buy or see more.”

Even pictures of Chase’s feet in the back of his car have become a popular trend among big foot fetish riders. What started as a way to make tips slightly bigger has grown into an unexpected and unusual form of fame. Chase says he earns more from feet now than he does Uber, he also notes he records to ensure everyone’s safety and provided us with some riders audio reactions.

 RIDER REACTIONS

  • “I tipped you extra just for the sign — it’s hilarious!”
  • “How long have you been wearing the socks you currently have on? You take Venmo?”
  • “Never expected this, you’re the best Uber driver ever. Your feet smell like crazy work bro.”

Despite the attention, Chase continues to drive full-time. He says the passengers are fun, but ultimately it’s the driving that keeps the feet request coming in.

“Driving still pays some of the bills,” he said with a grin. “But apparently, these feet are covering the big bills.” Chase says he’s in the process of obtaining his class A drivers license so he can do commercial trucking.

Whether the sign stays up or comes down eventually, one thing is clear: Los Angeles has a new foot-sized celebrity, and the city can’t help but notice.
